Resumen

Some clinical studies have shown that titanium implants are able to become osseoiintegrated in radiated bone successfully, indicating that postoperative radiation is not a contraindication to implant placement. In this work our clinical experience in five patients with oral cancer is commented. All of them received radical surgery and postoperative radiation therapy. After surgical reconstruction of the soft and hard tissues, a prosthetic rehabilitation with implant-supported dentures was performed. The side effects of radiation therapy that may adversely affect the prosthetic restoration are discussed.
