Resumo
The interest for the misidentification syndromes has increased significantly in the last twenty years in scientific literature. In Capgras phenomenon the patient believes, as a delusion, that a near familiar is transformed into an impostor double. In this article we present one case where a Capgras syndrome was identified. We review the different classifications proposed for the misidentification syndromes so far, and the different studies regarding the aetiology. The phenomenon is considered as a symptom of distinct psychiatric or somatic nosological entities.
