Resumen
The performance of two forms of margin preparation (slicing with a disc versus bevellining with a hall diamond) and three cements (temporary cement, zinc oxyphosphate and Panavia EX®) were compared in a study of the retention of 74 intracoronal inlays installed extra orem. There were no significant dijferences in retention between slice and bevel, but the vestibulolingual width of slide preparations (mean 5.98 mm, SD 0.85, SE 0.15) was greater than that of the bevel preparations (mean 5.24 mm, SD 0.52, SE 0.09) (P<0.001). Inlays cemented with zinc oxyphosphate resisted significantly greater loads than when temporary cement was used (p<0.001); all inlays cemented with Panavia EX remained in place under increasing loads until crown fracture occurred at loads 2-3 times those resisted by zinc oxyphosphate cement.
