Resumen
A study was made comparing different occlusal aspects in a group of 267 males and females with complete temporary dentition. The presence or absence of diastems, the relation between both arches in the antero-posterior position defined by the terminal plane and the canine class, the relationship they maintain transversally with or without the existence of a lateral crossed-bite, and the relation of the incisors refered to the degree of overbite or overjet were registered. The frequency of each of these aspects was studied and it was found that no significant differences existed in both sex except for the case of diastems, which prevaleted in males, and the age affected the occlusal characteristics of the incisor relationship, existing a majority of open-bites and Iarger overjets in the younger group of children, but not being related with other occlusal aspects. The results obtained refering to the occlusal characteristics in temporary dentition of galician children are similar to the studies made in the caucassian and oriental populations, although there exist sorne differences when comparing them with black population.
