Resumen

In the fourth and last of this series of articles on an approach to fixed prosthesis retention, we report the evolution of the 53 fixed partial prostheses we have installed between 1982 and january 1991 using at least one intracoronal inlay retainer with the corresponding interlock connector designed specifically for each pontic (see parts I-III of the series). The retainers of all the pontics have proved stable, the only failures being unequivocally ascribable to pulpal pathology and/or caries in faces of the pillars that were not covered by the partial restorations.
