Resumo

Cluster headache is the most common trigeminal autonomic cephalalgia characterised by strictly unilateral pain. Trigeminal nerve (first branch) and facial trigeminal reflex (activation of the autonomic nervous system) are involved in its pathophysiology, and cause the eye and facial autonomic signs that accompany the pain. Clinically are characterized by hourly patterns of clusters of headaches, since bouts of pain attack are followed by asymptomatic remission periods. Secondary headaches are a large group of cephalea caused by a huge number of underlying medical conditions. In most cases, the lack of characteristic symptoms avoids to achieve a proper diagnosis and treatment.
