Abstract

The microscopic innervation of cat and white rat labial mucous membrane is studied using the argentum and specific acetylcholinesterase impregnation methods. The non existence of subepithelial nerve plexuses and of intraepithelial fibers as well as the scarcity in number and in variety of morphological types of nerve receptors is made clear. Cylinder and ball-like sensory corpuscles as well as Golgi-Mazzoni ones are described in the thickness of the lamina propia and submucous membrane.
