Abstract

In judicial cases of intimate partner violence against women, the assessment of psychological injury requires of specific validated protocols to follow (Arce, 2007). Thus, in forensic setting malingering must be suspected (American Psychiatric Association, 2002). With the aim of contrasting the efficacy of the incremental validity of the original validity scales of the MMPI-2 in detecting malingering, 101 mock victim women endorsed the MMPI-2 under the instructions of malingering psychological injury. Results and K scales were efficient in the classification of malingering. The incremental validity of both scales achieved to a correct classification of malingerers about 80%, but with about 20% of false positives. Finally, the implications of the results for forensic practice in malingering assessment are discussed
