Abstract
Affective symptomatology and Depressive Syndromes, in particular Major Depression, are common among inpatients at a General Hospital Internal Medicine Department. Depressive Syndromes and their treatment represent clinical variables affecting in many different ways and reciprocally the development and prognosis of the medical pathology causing the admission. The results of an update bibliographical review and the data of our own experience at the Liaison and Consultation Unit of the A Coruña University Hospital Psychiatry Department over more than 20 years (1990-2013) are presented.
