Abstract

In recent years, various non-surgical alternatives in the treatment of skin cancer have emerged, however in clinical practice the surgery remains the fundamental option of treatment with curative intent of neoplasm cutaneous lesions. Obtaining an optimal result in the reconstruction of cutaneous defects after the removal of oncological lesions begins with an adequate preoperative evaluation and planning the surgical treatment taking into account the different types of procedures, of greater or lesser complexity, which will depend on the size of the lesion, the location of the lesion and patient’s conditions (age, general condition, comorbidities, etc.). As a general rule, complex interventions should be avoided as long as it is possible to obtain equivalent results with simpler procedures.
