Plan de cuidados para pacientes con dispositivos de asistencia ventricular izquierda, hospitalizados

Abstract

The number of patients with advanced heart failure who benet from the implantation of left ventricular assist devices is ever increasing, as the latter have proven to be successful in improving their survival and quality of life. The aim is to develop a care plan for these patients at the in-patient unit prior to discharge. For the development thereof, the Virginia Henderson´s care model and the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association, Nursing Outcomes Classication and Nursing Interventions Classication taxonomies, as well as the links among them, were used. A new eld of care opens up for nursing professionals. We tried to meet these patients´ needs, already considered by some authors as the new chronic heart failure patients. The nursing staff plays a key role in training, preparation for selfcare management, management and care of the device and caregiver´s training and care, among others.
