Abstract

The objective of this work is to present a look at the pandemic in which we are immersed. This view is essentially subjective, although sustained by bibliographic review and by the experience of a long history of hospital work. That gaze encompasses three very different perspectives: the scientiic one, the medical one and the magical one. The scientiic view focuses especially on the development of vaccines and the comparison between Covid-19 and the lu of 1918. The medical view analyzes a complex encounter between the clinical position and the statistical one, which could be exempliied by the contrast between the work of an ICU staff and that of the socalled epidemiologists. Finally, the interaction between science, technique, scientism and politics is analyzed, as well as its effects when trying to face a situation that will presumably be forgotten, as it was happened were other serious pandemics that have occurred in the course of our history.
