Abstract
We describe the case of a patient with multiple cardiovascular risk factors who seek medical advice due to sudden decreased visual acuity, being diagnosed with central retinal artery occlusion due to multiple emboli. Central retinal artery occlusion is a serious and disabling condition, with ineffective acute treatment, that can be diagnosed with an adequate anamnesis and physical examination. The importance of this pathology lies, not so far in the acute treatment, but in the long-term control of cardiovascular risk factors to avoid new ocular, coronary or cerebral events
