Abstract

Objective: Analyze the effectiveness of acupuncture in assisted reproduction. Methods: We conducted a bibliographic review in the PubMed, Scielo, Cuiden, Dialnet, and Cochrane databases. Results: A higher number of pregnancies were observed when acupuncture is performed during ovarian stimulation. There is controversy whether acupuncture increases or decreases the risk of miscarriage. What the authors agree on is that the number of pregnancies achieved is increasing and there are a greater number of live newborns. Conclusions: Most studies do not take into account many variables, excluding important data such as the cause of infertility, the specific points of puncture, duration and time of treatment. In general, the reviews conclude that acupuncture favors the number of pregnancies, although there are conflicting opinions about the increased risk of miscarriage after the use of acupuncture.
