Abstract

This work proposes to contribute to the debate on the different clinical measures in the Eating Disorders based on the empirical available studies up to the date. Different studies considered analyses from the assumption that "the problem is the solution" (Watzlawick, Weakland and Fisch, 1976). From this perspective will provide data that help clarify whether the extraordinary measures are justified, preventive programs, additional resources, the multidisciplinary interventions, income hospital in an acute care unit and measures restricting freedom involving; ultimately, if there is empirical basis on which to support the social alarm produce the Eating Disorders and the sanitary expense that goes to them. Also reviewed the available evidence for treatments that are usually offered to those who are diagnosed as Eating Disorder. The general conclusion is that both psychotherapeutic and pharmacological interventions are still to receive sufficient empirical support. In Anorexia Nervosa (AN) they can offer family interventions for children and teenagers diagnosed, in Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Disorder the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has empirical support and the Fluoxetine for the decrease of the short-term binge eating. Other psychotherapeutics strategies have, at best, an empirical provisional support. In Spain there is no any other psychoactive drug approved by the Spanish Agency of the Medicines and Sanitary Products In conclusion questioned whether being in a position to reject any alternative therapeutic or accept any of them without proper monitoring of its results.
