Resumo

Symptomatic dermatography (factitious urticaria) is a type of inducible chronic urticaria that affects up to 5% of the population. It is characterized by the appearance of rashes and hives on the skin, accompanied or not by itching, as a result of rubbing, scratching, rubbing or friction applied to it. The causal factors may be multiple, but the cause of origin is unknown. Although the disease was identified almost 100 years ago, current studies highlight that it is a still unknown pathology, compared to other urticaria. The objective of the study was to make a clinical update to know what therapies and care are being applied, and what their effectiveness is. Through a bibliographic review in PubMed, Clini-calKey and UpToDate, a synthesis of the findings was carried out, as well as a narrative presentation of the available evidence. In conclusion, there is no standard treatment regimen for dermatographism. In mild cases, the use of emollient protectors, such as Vaseline, is usually recommended. In other cases, the administration of 2nd generation H1 and/or H2 antihistamines systemically is usually chosen, in combination with monoclonal antibodies, such as omalizumab. More studies are needed to provide greater scientific evidence, both in the field of prevention and in the advancement of more efficient therapies. Nursing care is oriented toward self-care, with the purpose of improving the patient's quality of life, and providing biopsychosocial support.
