Resumo

Arboviruses are a group of arthropod-borne viruses, which are distributed among wide areas, especially tropic and subtropic areas. There are a variety of illnesses caused by these viruses including febrile disease with exanthema and/or arthritis. The major arboviruses causing this clinic are: Bunyamwera (BUNV), Bwamba (BWAV), Oropouche (OROV), Dengue (DENV), Chikungunya (CHIKV), Mayaro (MAYV), O’nyong-nyong (ONNV), Ross River (RRV) and Sindbis (SINV). In our field these infections are not usually considered in the differential diagnosis of such symptoms. However, owing to different factors such as vector’s adaptation and the increased displacements, imported cases may appear in countries where the virus has not presence. So they are correctly diagnosed is important to know the viruses’ geographic distribution and vectors, as well as differences between the varieties of clinics.
