Abstract

Frozen shoulder, also called adhesive capsulitis, scapulohumeral periarthritis, or fibrotic capsulitis, is a condition characterized by a functional restriction of active and passive movements of the shoulder. Buford’s complex is a variant of the capsulo-ligamentous anatomy of the shoulder, first described by this author in 1994; It is an anatomical finding consisting of the complete absence of the glenoid labrum in the antero-superior quadrant of the shoulder associated with a medial glenohumeral ligament as a cord. Although it is widely described as a normal variant, Buford’s complex may predispose to developing intra-articular lesions. In the review of the literature, we found only one case where patients with anatomy variants such as the Buford complex and the presence of adhesive capsulitis are reflected, so the presentation of our clinical case may allow us to insist on the search for this relationship in the patients affected by this pathology.
