Resumo

Introduction and objective: At the Meeting of the Otoneurology Commission of the ENT Society of Castilla y León, Cantabria and La Rioja, held in Logroño in March 2019, it was proposed to elaborate a "Vestibular Rehabilitation (VR) Guide" in order to update the existing information. The guide was structured in ten chapters, each one of them has been assumed voluntarily by colleagues (from the ENT and Rehabilitation Services) from different provinces and which was published in Revista ORL in March 2020 [1]. Although we had the intention of making its presentation that same year at the Meeting of the Otoneurology Commission in Burgos and subsequently holding this round table at the Regional Congress, circumstances prevented us from doing so. Despite having passed 2 years since its preparation, the Organizing Committee of this Congress has found it appropriate to maintain it. The objective is to present a set of recommendations on VR that can be useful and applicable in any center, regardless of the available means. Method:After a brief explanation of the meaning of the round table and to present the speakers, coming from different provinces, we will give way to the presentation of each of the nine sections as previously mentioned, in the form of six minutes small communications. Results: Each participant is the author of the topic he raises and together it is a review of the rehabilitation process from the symptomatology and evaluation of the vestibular patient, compensation mechanisms, indications of VR, types of VR, with a specific reference to the elderly and to the results.Discussion: Although the time granted will prevent a discussion forum with attendees, the best reference could be, the recent publication of the book "Fundamentals of VR" written by Spanish professional experts on this topic [2].Conclusions: We believe that, although important, instrumental means are not essential to carry out a VR, but the collaboration of experts makes it possible to obtain the best results.
