Abstract

O incremento continuado, desde principios do século X X , da esperanza de vida ao nacer supuxo o aumento relativo das persoas de maior idade e o consecuente predominio de enfermidades crónicas e incapacidade. Vivimos máis anos, pero o importante é vivilos en boa saúde. Para iso debemos promover un envellecemento saudable e para logralo é crucial a promoción de hábitos saudables e do exercicio físico, que permitan manter a capacidade funcional dos órganos e favorezan a autonomía, xunto con intervencións preventivas fronte ás enfermidades crónicas. Os balnearios son lugares moi adecuados que axudan ao envellecemento saudable mediante a educación para a saúde, a promoción de hábitos saudables e do exercicio físico adaptado, o diagnóstico de fraxilidade e a prevención da dependencia, e as intervencións preventivas fronte ás enfermidades crónicas e do envellecemento.
