Resumen

Aim:To determine the frequency of use of graduated compression bilayer systems and the prevalence of venous ulcers in the lower limb in patients treated in the primary care centers of the Health Area of A Coruña e Cee (A Coruña).Method:Retrospective descriptive study. Cross-section of 2 months (from October to November 2018), to quantify all the requests for graduated compression bilayer systems received in the Wound Unit, which origi-nated inthe primary care centers of A Coruña, and their dispensation for patient care with ulcers of venous etiol-ogy on the leg. Variables: age, sex, number of graduated compression bilayer systems dispensed and prevalence rate of venous leg ulcers. Descriptive analysis.Results:347 patients affected by venous ulcers were identified, 51.18% of those with leg ulcers. Of these, 17 patients (4.90%) received bilayer compression systems. The average age was 76.21 [75.59 -78.21] years. The prevalence of varicose ulcers in adult patients was 0.07%.Conclusion: The use of compression therapy should be increased in patients with ulcers of venous etiology, and it is also necessary to increase the specific training of the health professionals involved, to achieve greater technical skill that allows increasing patient safety and adherence.
